BROTHER records new song, performs in Melbourne & Canberra
november
2006

After a run of dates in New South Wales, BROTHER detoured through Bathurst to record the finishing touches on a new song about Oz, 'Slow Down.' Didg master, Mark Atkins, who played in Sydney and Byron with the band, will add spoken word and didg prior to the song's release.

BROTHER is about to play its first ever shows in Melbourne and Canberra.  In Melbourne, they will be playing with the fantastic Aussie band, Claymore.  The two bands met in France a few months back.  This show will be recorded for a live CD.

Dave Wyett, from Embrionic, will perform a solo set in Canberra as support for BROTHER's performance.

These last dates are very under the radar but it would be wonderful to play to a crowd in these towns, so if you know anyone in Melbourne or Canberra...get on the blower, get them out and we'll give them a very fine evening's entertainment.

BROTHER the Buzz Band of Lorient
august
2006

BROTHER ended up the buzz band of the Lorient festival in August, where media interest around the band's individual sound was relentless and comparisons with Midnight Oil, for the band's social and environmental lyrical commentary, were common. European management is now planning a 6 week French tour for early '07.

"As a reflection of themselves and of Australia where they are from, their music is a mix of cultures and influences... Positive waves come from their beings and as soon as they start performing, everything lights up", wrote one French journalist, Olivier Vadrot.

BROTHER’s song, ‘Photograph’ is featured on the Festival Interceltique De Lorient’s compilation CD of artists who performed at the festival.  This CD is available for purchase through Amazon France

‘In true indie spirit, BROTHER clearly rebels against mainstream conventions to break new ground. This willingness to take risks and push the pop envelope has yielded some truly unique and memorable music that deserves to find a broadly receptive audience.’

Mandy Findlay, Festival coordinator explained, "The Milton Small Farm Expo is aimed at encouraging small coastal landholders to get off their mowers and into farming to create more local produce and jobs for the local markets, while we want to inspire young people, with Youth Fest 06 to take a more active role in the community and how it's being shaped by presenting ideas and perspectives that may help them understand they have a power and potential they can control themselves".

let the song selection begin
january 2006

Insiders report that the selection process for BROTHER's planned compilation CD has begun in earnest.  Sources confirm that Angus, Hamish and Dalbo have been somewhat overwhelmed by the response from fans invited to nominate the BROTHER songs they would most like to see included in the release. Responding to insurmountable pressure from new fans requesting out-of-print titles and from long-time fans who have literally worn out their older CDs, the band has committed to release a collection of tracks which will trace the evolution of the BROTHER sound over the ten years leading to the release of Urban Cave.
