Cheers to Bernard,
Eric and the team at Music Connection for once again placing BROTHER in
the mag's Hot 100 Indies list. We're in the 12th annual
list. Thanks for the nod, people.

Go Get it!

"It’s
almost impossible to categorize this album, so don’t even try.
Every track blends at least two genres or more, from dance beats
and electric guitar riffs on Wear Me Down to rap, rock, and folk
on Funny...Long time fans of the band will hardly be
disappointed. Even better, newcomers to the Brother tribe will
fall for the uniqueness of this album’s tracks."
"Brother is one of the most radical
showcases around of rock that blends modern and old world
instrumentation.It's
not every day that your frontmen both pull out bagpipes instead of
guitars and cover the solo parts in an amazingly harmonized
"duel."From
sampled loops to ancestral pipes, shredding guitar to sobbing
cello, each member of the band played several instruments, doing
whatever the moment called for, at the ideal time.Everything came together in a perfectly balanced sonic
tapestry.They gave
new meaning to the drama of the drone, whether it be from a pipe
or a digital keyboard.
But
Brother's stellar showmanship is not their only weapon-- their
power is encompassed in their highly moving songs. With influences reminiscent of U2, Geddy Lee and Neil Finn,
Brother' ballads are extremely moving, and their rousing songs
feel like anthems.Especially
when rising to the pitch of a Scottish Reel on acid.No matter what your taste in music, I advise you to go out
and get hit over the head with this music as soon as possible. There's just nothing else like it."

"Like its didg-playing countryman, HL, the band BROTHER - in
typical Aussie style - is known for its unorthodox approach
to the entertainment business as well as its refreshingly
unique sound. BROTHER, is blazing its way across the US
and set to take Europe
and
Asia
in similar fashion with its new CD, urban cave."
BROTHER
has mission: to bring the didgeridoo to every American school
student. Students from the Cedarburg School District in WI
participated in a didg workshop recently, learning about the didg
and joining the band on stage to create one giant buzz...
joshua
tree didge fest
september 27, 2003
If you're into didges and the Great Outdoors, put them together and
get thee along to the Joshua
Tree Didge Fest(Joshua Tree, CA), Oct 6-12.
We had the pleasure of performing there last year and it was an awesome
experience of incredible sights and sounds, with performances
by amazing players.
So...the official release date was Thursday,
September 4th and we celebrated with a show at Legends
in Woodstock, NY at 10.00 pm. The show went out live-to-air on
WDST FM. We also dropped in at WDST Wednesday morning (3rd
September) to play a few songs for Morning Show hosts, Greg and
Franz, and talk a bit about the album. WDST is one of those rare
stations which gives independent music a run and which has played a
significant role in breaking a lot of bands into the U.S. Our thanks
go out to Gary, Greg, Roger, Dave, Franz and the crew for giving
BROTHER a go...
The 'Urban Cave' shipment is at the warehouse, so we
opened the BROShop
to orders Thursday, September 4th from 10.00 pm, to coincide with the WDST
simulcast. We guarantee a five day turnaround for all U.S. orders,
so you can be singing along to Funny in no time.
We're not going to blow our own trumpet about the album (that's best
left to T). But we will say that we're bloody proud of this one.
It's Fat. Deep. Sensual.
